Turn the Tide

WISA aims to Turn the Tide for all women working in and with the Australian seafood industry.

Turn the Tide is Women in Seafood Australasia’s flagship three-year initiative, designed to unlock the full potential of the seafood industry by connecting, supporting, and championing women.

Through co-design and action research, the program equips women with the skills and experiences they have told us they need, while raising their visibility across the sector. By connecting women with peers, industry leaders, and opportunities, Turn the Tide showcases the talent already in the workforce and demonstrates how diversity drives innovation, inclusivity, and long-term sustainability.

Turn the Tide is proudly delivered by WISA with funding from the Australian Government’s Women’s Leadership and Development Program – Lead and Succeed grant, and with the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC) as a key funding and in-kind partner.

This program is designed to provide women within the Australian seafood industry development and growth opportunities at a personal level, tailored to the individual needs, career paths and ambition of participants. It comprises three main programs which will be delivered annually

  • an annual guided and facilitated Mentor Program to support personal development and career progression
  • the provision of several National Seafood Industry Leadership Program (NSLIP) Bursaries
  • a six-month Entrepreneurship and Leadership Program to build skills, capabilities and action plans for a specific concept or idea.
