Women in Seafood Australasia (WISA) Bursary Program

WISA is a not for-profit, independent, productive organisation and network.

State Program

The 2026 WISA Seafood Directions State Bursary Program creates practical pathways for women to attend one of the seafood industry’s most important national forums, build networks and increase visibility in the conversations shaping the sector. WISA thanks our state partners for investing in local seafood talent and supporting women’s participation and leadership across the industry.

Empowering Women. Strengthening the Seafood Industry.

At Women in Seafood Australasia (WISA), we believe that when women are supported to lead, the whole industry thrives.

Our Bursary Program helps women from every corner of the seafood sector, from boats to boardrooms, take part in major industry conferences and events, build networks, and grow their confidence as leaders.

Each bursary is more than a ticket to attend, it’s a fully supported learning experience. Recipients connect through WISA-led workshops, panels, and networking sessions, and stay part of the journey through our Bursary Alumni Network. With WISA Guppies childcare available at key events, we’re also breaking down one of the most common barriers to participation.

The results speak for themselves. Bursary recipients report stronger networks, new opportunities, and a clearer sense of where they want to go, with many stepping into leadership programs, board roles, and mentoring others along the way.

Our bursaries are made possible through the generous support of partners who believe in an inclusive and sustainable seafood industry. Each bursary proudly carries its partner’s name and is recognised at events and across WISA’s growing national network.

Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected seafood community.
