What is Turn the Tide Entrepreneurship and Leadership Program?

There are 3 parts to the program:

PART 1: Facilitator training

We are offering an incredible opportunity to train to be an Entrepreneurship and Leadership facilitator with Affectus to 5 women.

You will have a training session to build skills to provide leadership to a group through facilitating discussions. These sessions will be very practical. You will have the chance to put your new skills into practice by helping the Turn the Tide team facilitate the Leadership and Entrepreneurship small group program through shadowing and co-facilitating. The expectation is that you will be able to transfer these skills across to your part of the seafood industry.

PART 2: Leadership and Entrepreneurship small group program

You will work online in small groups over 6 months, to develop and action your personal plan to achieve your entrepreneurial and leadership goals based on a shared group issue. The Affectus team (and facilitators above) will be guiding you and we will have experts to help you along the way.

We are offering this program to 40 women - Five groups of eight. First you will decide which issue to tackle. This will range from topics such as strategic planning, transforming your ideas to activity, voicing your opinion, to handling conflict, and more to choose from. Next, groups form around shared topics participants are most interested in actioning. In online meetings groups will discuss, decide, action plan and take action on their shared issue - supporting and working together to make change in the industry on issues that matter to you.

PART 3: Round table

The final part of this annual feast of women’s brilliance will be a ‘Round Table’ in person gathering where women participating in the Turn the Tide project will come together. You will hear about the amazing work done to address the five burning issues in the small group Part 2, be motivated by some awesome speakers, and work with Affectus and WISA building more leadership and entrepreneurship knowledge.

What is Entrepreneurship?

Entrepreneurship is an action - it is something you choose to do. Entrepreneurship is the ability and readiness to develop, organise and run an enterprise, along with any of its uncertainties in order to make a profit or a difference. There are different types of entrepreneurship, including in small or large business, startups, social enterprises or as researchers.

What is Leadership?

At Turn the Tide, we define leadership as an action you take. That action might be obvious to the world or might be subtle and only known by you. It may be in your workplace or in your community. It may be a big thing or a small thing. Leadership is seeing a need to take action and intentionally stepping into that space, having your intended action articulated, seen and heard, and then doing it. Through taking this considered action, others then can choose to follow your leadership direction.
